An average movie

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick (it is actually pretty obscure) but since I always had a weak spot for Charlize Theron, I was quite eager to check it out. Eventually, I thought that the whole thing looked pretty gorgeous, Penelope Cruze and Charlize Theron both provided some solid perfomances, especially Theron, but still the whole thing failed to really impress me. I guess the story was not interesting enough, it was a rehash of some old ideas which have been done before and way better than here and, to be honest, I didn't care much about the characters involved and what they were going through. That’s the issue with those kind of features is that they tried to glamorize some of our darkest time period in mankind’s hirtory and there is always a risk that it becomes just too frivolous and trivalize something major like this. At least, Charlize Theron was once again very interesting to behold and, without her, the whole thing would have been pretty much a failure. To conclude, even though it was nothing really amazing, I still think it was a decent period drama and I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
