The Alamo review

An average movie

To be honest, I wonder how I actually ended up watching this flick but I guess I decided to check it out because there was a nice cast involved. Apparently, it was at first a project developed by Ron Howard but since he couldnโ€™t agree with Disney on the budget, he dropped out. Well, it seems that Howard dodged a bullet as this movie was not only a box-office flop but it was even of the worst bombs ever made. Anyway, before watching the damned thing, I have to admit that I wasn't familiar with the historical facts concerning the Alamo so I was slightly confused about the story during the first 30 minutes. In fact, I think that the fact that I didnโ€™t know much about the story was actually a good thing and, as a result, I was more able to enjoy the damned thing. Anyway, the whole thing was a rather typical overly patriotic American movie. Still, even though I'm not a big fan of this genre, it didn't bother me much this time as this movie was actually rather well made and fairly entertaining. To conclude, even though it was not really a masterpiece, I thought it was still a decent watch and I think it is definitely worth a look, especially if you're interested in the history of the USA.
