From the Longgang District Embodied Intelligent Robot Innovation Platform, an experimental space where humanoid robots perform and interact with visitors, to the Longgang Energy Ecological Park, one of the world’s largest waste-to-energy plants, this journey shows how Shenzhen is building the future in a practical way.
I also visit the Mangrove Nature Reserve in Futian, a protected wetland on the northern shore of Shenzhen Bay and an important stopover for migratory birds, before exploring the Shenzhen urban planning exhibition hall near the Civic Center, where the city’s incredible transformation from a small border town into a global metropolis is on display.
