After 20 years of development hell and several entries into the game series, a new MORTAL KOMBAT Movie was finally officially put into production in 2019, with a release date of 2021. Despite unfortunately coinciding with the pandemic, the movie managed to release to relatively on schedule in April of 2021. The film received a mixed reception from both critics and fans alike.
For me, the movie is certainly a mixed bag of positives and negatives that leaves a lot to be desired, but it performed well enough to spawn a sequel releasing in the coming week, which regardless of my gripes with the first installment I am so excited for.
