Because of His love for us, the Savior invites each of us to come closer to Him. He promises, “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:63).
Everyone who is baptized makes a covenant to follow Jesus Christ and care for others. The prophet Alma taught that we promise to bear one another’s burdens, mourn with those who mourn, comfort those in need, and stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all places.
As we are faithful to these promises, the Lord is faithful to us. He helps lighten our burdens and draws closer to us as we serve others. Through service, we come to know the Savior better and slowly become more like Him.
Those who serve the Savior are guided by the Spirit. They feel His love and find joy in drawing closer to Him.
