With the first entry releasing in 1996, the RESIDENT EVIL games became one of the most immensely popular horror franchises in gaming and are still going strong to this day. so, naturally back when the games first started becoming popular, a film adaptation was inevitable. after going through several drafts and creatives to helm the project, eventually, director Paul W.S Anderson was brought on board to lead the film after the success of 1995's MORTAL KOMBAT.
Releasing in 2002, the reception was mostly negative from critics and many fans of the RESIDENT EVIL games were disappointed with the outcome. As a person who has always used to this movie, and only become a fan of the games in the last few years, I can honestly say, I still like it.
