Alice Lon was born on November 23, 1926 in Cooper, Delta County, Texas, USA. She was an actress, known for The Lawrence Welk Show (1951), The Juke Box Jury (1953) and Top Tunes and New Talent (1956). She died on April 24, 1981 in Dallas, Texas.The original Champagne Lady of Lawrence Welk's TV years, and popular with audiences, Alice Lon was abruptly fired by Welk in 1959 for wearing a gown, rather modest by today's standards, that he felt showed a little too much leg. There was considerable controversy over this at the time, but Welk held firm to his position. Although they eventually reconciled personally, they never worked together professionally again. Lon died of scleroderma in 1981.
