Secrets of ancient Pompeii revealed in newly discovered paintings | BBC News

Archaeologists working in Pompeii have unearthed a series of rare, almost life-size paintings known as frescoes.

The paintings depict Dionysus - the god of wine-making - and the dig has also uncovered 50 rooms in the ancient Roman city.

Pompeii was buried in an eruption from Mount Vesuvius in AD79.
