Technical Note: Out of the hundreds of scope trailers I scanned over the years this is the first one I encountered which required a different squeeze factor than 2.0. To make things look the right proportions I had to perform a 1.8 squeeze factor

This 35mm film trailer has been given to me by a contributor and transferred to digital using the Gugusse Roller with the Raspberry Pi HQ Camera.

*Synopsis by ChatGPT:*

"Tex" (1982) delves into the raw and challenging world of adolescence set against the backdrop of rural Oklahoma. Based on the novel by S.E. Hinton, the story follows Tex McCormick, a spirited teenager played by Matt Dillon, and his older brother Mason, portrayed by Jim Metzler. With their mother deceased and their father absent on a prolonged rodeo tour, the brothers navigate the complexities of growing up, from financial struggles to romantic entanglements and inevitable confrontations. Tex's close bond with his brother is tested as Mason assumes a more parental role, pushing Tex towards maturity. Emilio Estevez portrays Johnny, Tex's loyal best friend, who joins the brothers in their trials and adventures.

Directed by Tim Hunter, "Tex" offers an authentic look at coming-of-age challenges, emphasizing family ties, friendship, and personal growth. Matt Dillon delivers a compelling performance, capturing the nuances of a teenager grappling with the harsh realities of life, with Estevez and Metzler providing strong supporting roles. The film stands out in its dedication to realism, avoiding the glamorization or oversimplification of youth, a characteristic hallmark of Hinton's works. Instead, "Tex" provides a poignant, sometimes raw, exploration of adolescence, resonating deeply with anyone who has faced the turbulent journey to adulthood. Its simplicity, combined with its genuine emotion, makes it an enduring and touching film in the coming-of-age genre.
