Giggle Founder and CEO Sall Grover says she was shocked but so appreciative Government Services Minister Bill Shorten quickly intervened to reverse gender-neutral language on a Medicare form.
Ms Grover objected to filling out a Medicare form that listed her as a "birthing parent" instead of mother to her newborn.
Mr Shorten took to Twitter over the issue and vowed to replace the forms with new ones using the term "mother".
"That was shocking," Ms Grover said.
"I'm so appreciative and grateful, it's fantastic โ all power to him (Mr Shorten) for doing that."
