Since 1735, legend has it that a demonic creature, the Jersey Devil, has stalked the woods of one of America’s oldest states. Famous for its beaches, mosquitoes and Atlantic City casinos, New Jersey is also home to a monster. According to a survey of the population, the younger generation believes it is the Jersey Devil that gave its name to New Jersey’s professional hockey team, the Devils, in 1982. But that’s not the only sports team that bears this legend’s name.
