Translating the main theme song "Iron Blood, Loyal Heart" (鐵血丹心) from the Legend of the Condor Heroes I (1983)(射鵰英雄傳之鐵血丹心) into English.

Original Cantonese song by Roman Tam (譚百先) and Jenny Tseng (甄妮).

The 1983 series was made by TVB based on the Legend of the Condor Heroes (射鵰英雄傳) novel by Jin Yong (金庸), who is also referred to as Louis Cha in English.

The 1983 TVB series is considered a classic and is still the most popular adaptation of the story as it features the memorable performance of Barbara Yung (翁美玲) as Huang Rong (黄蓉). She's still considered the best actress to have portrayed Huang Rong to this day. She gave such energy and enthusiasm to the role. She tragically died though in 1985 whilst still at the peak of her career. Then there's Felix Wong (黃日華) as Guo Jing (郭靖) and Michael Miu (苗僑偉) as Yang Kang (杨康). Of all the actors that have played Guo Jing, no one quite has the heroic feel and stature of Felix Wong. Also no one has quite had the charm of Michael Miu in the role of Yang Kang. These were timeless acting and performances. Sharon Yeung (楊盼盼) played Mu Nianci (穆念慈) and had good on screen chemistry with Michael Miu. Adaptations following the 1983 series didn't really have the chemistry that Barbara, Felix, Michael, and Sharon had. The series featured many stars but there was also a notable performance by Patrick Tse (謝賢).

The novel, Legend of the Condor Heroes, is pretty popular in China and worldwide. It has been translated into many languages including English. For those interested, I highly recommend reading the fan adaptation of the novel in English is available at:

In relation to this song translation, this is actually my first go at translating a Cantonese song into English. I hope I have done it justice although I may not be 100% correct in the translation. Duets are pretty tough sometimes. I find that Chinese/Cantonese can be tough to translate as one Chinese character can literately be a sentence depending on context. Also what rhymes in Chinese may not rhyme in English. For example, "stars" and "ice" rhyme in Chinese and is used often. These words obviously don't rhyme in English. Finally, there may be more poetic translators around. My translations are basic and is intended to give the audience an understanding of what the song means. I don’t spend days on end on the translations. At most I do my translations and cut the video footage together in a day.

Will take requests to translate wuxia and/or TVB songs in the comments section.
Also please subscribe and share with your friends and help grow this channel. The more subscribers, the more songs I'll translate to English!

Please Note: It takes a lot of time and effort to translate and create this video. If you use the video or translation in anyway, please link it back to my video. Thank you.
