Synopsis:-
Amirah Al-Amir (Nicole Chamoun) is an aspiring Iraqi-Australian boxing trainer who often has to deal with the physicality and deep-seated culture of misogyny in the sporting world. She works in the family gym in Sydney's western suburbs with world champion father Sami and her two brothers. Amirah secures a debut professional match for her hard-nosed fighter Jess O'Connor (Keisha Castle-Hughes) with the help of Strick, Sami's long-time promoter. Her father is furious that she went behind his back and threatens to cut her off. [Wikipedia]
Jess is also in a relationship with the Imam's daughter, Ranya (Setareh Naghoni) and the characters aren't the token lesbian on the show, just because it fulfills the diversity quota for the network. Both their characters play an important part in telling the story, within the story.
Many will recognise Nicole Chamoun, who played the character of Layla in Kick and also recently starred in Safe Harbour.
