Nataly’s Corner is proud to feature NEW music from R&B/Soul/Funk/Jazz guitarist Curt Jones! I have been waiting…patiently I might add…for Curt Jones’ new release. They say good things come to those who are patient so I’m here to attest that the CD “Curt Jones III” is most definitely an example of the good you can expect when you’re patient. This musician plays his guitar with such intensity, depth, and soul...his sounds would make you want to…as my mom would say if something is that good…“jump up and slap someone”! His music can be identified as jazzy smooth & saucy when it’s time for the blues of the heart strings…and slightly funk-ti-fied with an R&B flare when it’s time to get a groove going. And even if you’re not a connoisseur of this genre of music, his guitar-playing will speak a language that you’ll come to understand and like. Its call the “curt connection”…and if you’re not on board yet…then you’re missing out! I once said that Curt Jones is the next B.B. King [RIP] and I still believe that.
Curt Jones is a native of New Jersey who holds several music facet “hats”. Not only is he a skilled guitarist, but Curt is also well-known as a keyboardist, lyricist, vocalist, producer, and music arranger. Curt gives credit to his family roots and singer Marvin Gaye as having influenced him towards a career in music. In that process, he quickly garnered exposure when he joined 70s funk and soul group “Slave”. In 1979, Curt Jones co-founded the funk and soul group “Aurra” [group name later changed to Deja]. Deja peeked at their best in the mid-80s reaching #1 on Billboard’s R&B Top 10 British Pop chart hit with their song “You & Me Tonight”. Deja had eight Top 20 R&B singles from 1985 to 1990. After his success with Deja, Curt Jones leaned towards a solo career and debuted his first album titled “360 Degrees” in 2006. His follow-up album, “Solo”, was released in 2010. When he’s not recording in the studio, Curt Jones is a very sought-after musician who continues to perform live shows and at various jazz and soul events across the country.
