In this episode of Retro-Spec, Indigo takes a look at Looking Glass Studios, the developer behind Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Thief and many more classic games that inspire games we play two decades later.

In the final part of the of three-part series "Through the Looking Glass", we cover the later years in the company's story, with the follow-up to the classic cyberpunk horror hit System Shock 2, as well as the lauded sequel to the legendary stealth game, Thief II: The Metal Age. Some interesting facts about the origins of System Shock 2, their partnership with Ken Levine’s Irrational Games, and the closing of Looking Glass Studios, as well as their inspiration to games moving forward in titles like Dishonored, Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible War, BioShock, BioShock Infinite, and successors to the classics of old: System Shock Remake, System Shock 3 and Underworld Ascendant.

Corrections:

Eric and Terri Brosius's last name is correctly pronounced "BRO-SHUSS", not "BRO-SE-US".
