The Bollywood industry is the silent witness of the reel life and real life saga of Bollywood celebrities. Meena Kumari (1 Aug 1933 – 31Mar 1972) who was born in a much compromised condition in her family had also lived a very peace less life and always faced trouble in all her personal relationship. This restlessness and pain clearly reflected in her acting career.
She started her acting career at the age of four against her wish to support her family. In her 30 years of acting career she gave some outrageous performances in the movies called 'Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam', 'Baiju Bawra', 'Parineeta' and many more. She won 4 filmfare awards for the best actress but she won the heart of Indian cinema and audience by her heart drenching performance in her last film 'Pakheezah directed' by her husband Kamal Amrohi.
Her relationship with her husband gave her the best and worst moments of her life. After her separation from her husband she became a chronic alcoholic and died due to liver cirrhosis. Her historical film 'Pakheezah' took 16 years to get completed. She completed this movie in her last stage of illness. And it really showed the uncountable love for her husband. She is always regarded as a "Tragic Queen" of the Indian cinema.
