Today I'm making the potion from Hocus Pocus, or at least an actually hygienic and drinkable version of it. Happy Halloween!

**********************************

Hocus Pocus came out in 1993 and It's a modern halloween classic. At least for my generation, and hopefully yours. In 1693 (actually, after the end of the Salem Witch Trials but whatever) the Sanderson Sisters ( Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy ) Are tried and hung for witchcraft. Which is good, since they'd just sucked the soul out of a little girl and turned her brother into a cat. 300 years Later Max the Virgin ( Omri Katz ) lights the black candle and accidentally brings the sisters back to life for one night, during which they run amok (amok amok amok amok) and try to devour the souls of all the children in Salem, but most specifically the soul of Dani ( Thora Birch ). It's a very silly, very funny, good time halloween movie. I haven't mentioned them here but it's worth noting that Vinessa Shaw is in the movie and I was exactly the appropriate age to have a giant crush on her in this when it first came out, and I did damn it. Also Gary and Penny Marshall are in this movie in a hilarious scene, but I couldn't grab a solid clip of it to include here. Sorry.

The Sisters use a green, bubbling potion to prepare a child for soul-sucking. Kid drinks it, soul get's loose, sisters drink up soul. Simple stuff. So here's my best effort to create a fun and drinkable version of the Soul Potion for your halloween party.

Sanderson Sisters Slammer
.5 oz. -or- 15 ml. Lime Juice
.5 oz. -or- 15 ml. Orgeat
1 oz. -or-30 ml. Midori
1.5 oz. -or- 45 ml. Gin
.5 oz. -or- 15 ml. Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum
Shake & Strain into Potion bottle.

Most of the tools and gear I use on the show can be found on my gear page at: bit.ly/H2DGear BUT, here's a couple of links that everyone is almost always asking me about:
