Track Title: Captain America's Theme
Movie: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Composer(s): Henry Jackman
Theme of the Week: April 3rd, 2014
Info:
Henry Jackman is no stranger to the comic book genre. Having scored X-Men: First Class and Kick Ass, Jackman already had experience with supers.

Although Alan Silvestri's score for the first Captain America had a sense of old-fashion heroism, Jackman's sounds underscore a Captain America of the modern world. Heavily electronic, the Captain's new theme is updated for today's period.

"It's tempting to always associate Captain America with the American 1950s and the second World War," said Jackman, "and kind of a period, but what's interesting about what Joe and Anthony Russo [directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier] have done with this film, they definitely pushed it into a more psychologically credible, more realistic kind of an area."

Although electronics are big part of Captain America's new theme, he cautions that some things remain orchestrated for the sake of the character:

"You definitely still need to anchor the music with a heroic theme." Jackman continues, "Just that heroic theme has to feel relevant for movies set in 2014, and can't be a historical throwback."
