A one-minute video overview about the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Iron Man's Mark 44: The Hulkbuster! The suit's powers, abilities and characteristics as depicted in the MCU movies, and Avengers expanded universe.
The Hulkbuster is Tony Stark's 44th Iron Man suit, and was co-created with the help of Bruce Banner to serve as a contingency plan to subdue the Hulk - should he lose control and became a threat to civilians or allies. Remaining on standby in orbit, this heavy duty modular armor was deployable at a moment’s notice to anywhere in the world.
The suit was built as an attachment for Tony’s Mark 43 armor and works as a mech or exoskeleton that functions on top of his existing armor. The Hulkbuster was specifically designed to match the Hulk’s incredible strength and is powered by over eleven Arc Reactors in order to grant the power required for such a task. However, should the Hulk become too enraged, the suit can quickly become overpowered and outmatched. To counter damage sustained from the Hulk, spare parts can fly to Stark from a drop pod hovering around the combat zone and automatically assemble onto the Hulkbuster Armor; replacing essential parts as needed. The suit is outfitted with hulk-specific weapons, such as a jackhammer punch, a chemical sedation spray, as well as an assortment of missiles.
To allow time for assembly, the suit comes equipped with an accompanying containment system that can temporarily immobilize the Hulk.
