Gutsy Animations presents an exclusive behind the scenes look at the development of the upcoming Moominvalley TV series. Coming in 2019!
MOOMINVALLEY is a brand-new, international animation for television starring Taron Egerton, Rosamund Pike and Kate Winslet. Based on the beloved Moomin stories by Finnish-Swedish author and artist Tove Jansson, the show follows the adventures of Moomintroll and his family and friends in their idyllic home of Moominvalley.
The show is produced by Finnish production company Gutsy Animations and is being created by an outstandingly talented team, including awarded creative director Marika Makaroff, Oscar®-winning director Steve Box; BAFTA-winning producer John Woolley and Emmy-winning writing duo Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler.
Filled with joy and suspense, the family-drama will possess the same emotional range and depth that made Jansson’s original stories so popular with children and adults alike. This innovative retelling of the Moomin books is sure to delight lifelong fans as well as complete newcomers to the franchise.
The series is being developed in association with public broadcaster Yle in Finland and Sky One in the UK. Moominvalley has the full support of Moomin Characters, the business set up by Tove Jansson and her brother Lars in the 1950s, and Bulls Licensing, their global licensing agent.
