The story: Let me start off by saying, this one has been a long time in the works. Ever since Frozen came out this has been my most requested song, video and character...I got to cover "Love Is an Open Door" last year & had such a blast channeling Anna, but all I've heard since is "Let it Go! Elsa! Elsa! ELSA!" haha. Let me preface by saying I love Frozen, and I love both sisters. I was immediately drawn to Anna for her warmth, derpy-ness and bubbly, outspoken personality. But over the course of this Let It Go project, I've really come to love this song, and Elsa has become a character that is very close to my heart. I think we've all experienced times in our lives when we've felt overwhelmed, like failures, and utterly alone. When we start to let fear make us see our God-given gifts as curses instead and we try to hide them. When we feel like we don't fit in, don't deserve to, and we separate ourselves. But then there comes a time when we need to just let go and accept ourselves for exactly who God made us to be. Maybe some of you might think it's silly to delve so deep into a cartoon character, but I think Elsa's story is important, and there's a reason that Frozen has become such a phenomenon for kids (& kids at heart) all over the world. I think that maybe now more than ever people are suffering, and this story lets people know that they're not alone in their struggles. That they are unique and special for who they are; not when they try to fit in, but when they stand out honestly for who they were born to be. I believe when we are using the gifts God has given us we are fulfilling our destinies.
I've been wanting to fulfill your requests for this song and cover it here on YouTube for such a long time, but I didn't want to do it halfway, which is why it's taken me so long to release this video. You guys deserve the best that I can do so I wanted to include all the sparkle I could muster! There's a very long story to how this video came about...even longer than this video description! *wink* I won't bore you with every detail -that's what the behind the scenes video is for! lol! -but I will say that it's been a journey, a learning experience and an ADVENTURE! One that brought new & dear friendships, collaborations & a trip to one of the most beautiful snowy places I've ever been to-the Ice Castle at Midway Utah! I've never been colder in my life, I was super sick with bronchitis, and some plans fell through at the last minute, but none of that mattered, because this was one of the best experiences I've ever had! And I have you all to thank. Thank you for pushing me to do my best, for believing in me and for making requests for videos like this. Thank you for coming back again and again to watch my videos, and for sticking with me on this journey. I hope you love the song, and I love YOU! -Traci
