Tightrope S01E15 - The Neon Wheel
22Dec59 CBS Tue
Kent Taylor, Harry Brockton,
Barbara Lawrence, Ann,
Albert Hodge, Benson,
Nancy Hadley, Lucille,
Synopsis:
Harry Brockton, a candidate for mayor, has successfully concealed his connection with the underworld. An undercover agent, trying to expose the crooked politician, agrees to help him frame the present mayor.
Synopsis 2:
A crooked politician tries to frame the mayor by making it appear that he is getting a payoff on a land deal.
Synopsis by: The Classic TV Archive
Premise:
Exploits of "The Undercover Agent" - Nick Stone as he attempts to infiltrate and expose the ranks of organized crime.
The series was a hit but was dropped due to pressure and complaints about excessive violence. For syndication however they cleaned it up alot and it lost the edge of the original showing. His character was assigned the task of infiltrating organized crime as an undercover agent. The catch and
storyline for added suspense was that many of the police units he helped did not know he was a planted agent, requiring him to dodge bullets from both sides. As an added gimmick he wore a gun up front but had a hidden one holstered sideways on the back of his belt with the result being any time he was frisked for a weapon, they always quit the search after the first weapon was found, leaving his character still armed for the final showdown.
