My almost 5 year old is a tinkerer. Mom here is a geek who is loving all the STEM toys available that help quench his thirst for creating and learning.
So I was extremely disappointed that this doesn't work. Maybe someone with more time and patience (or a degree in engineering!) can actually figure out the exact angles and distances. There are no notches or marks to show exactly where the pieces are meant to attach. Of course this is likely part of this being labeled as a STEM toy. However, given that it's ages 8 and up and I'm almost 5 times this age and of at least normal intelligence, I was sorely disappointed in the lack of function of this toy.
I apologize for the video cutting out; my phone storage is low. "SO that this little notch is facing this way, so the pins fall forward more easily. This doesn't translate to reality as the pieces are all lightweight plastic."
Again, apologies for the mess. Eek! (And the yogurt on his sweater...) But I wanted to record this review before it all fell apart again. (The sensitively due to lightweight plastic makes it very difficult to even properly set up without knocking over other pieces of the set.)
I am most likely returning this to the store. At $9.99 it was a good try.
