Product Info: Help the frog catch the fly with the Rube Goldberg The Fly Trap Challenge. This toy is all about letting kids build their own Rube Goldberg machine, a contraption that uses a chain reaction to accomplish a simple task in a complicated manner. In the case of this toy, a basketball hits a spoon, which causes the fly to flutter into the gumball, which makes the gumball roll down the celery stalk and land in the measuring cup, which causes the helping hand to release the slice of bread, which means the bread with the frog on it will slide down the cheese wedge letting the frog’s sticky tongue catch the fly.

Or at least that’s how it’s supposed to happen. Once kids get everything set up, they’ll find that the contraption doesn’t actually work the way it’s supposed to. But with helpful tips from an online video, kids are encouraged to tinker with the contraption until they can figure out how to make it work.
