A thriller on the hunt for a serial killer in communist Poland: a young detective superintendent manages to hunt down the alleged culprit and is treated as a hero. Corrupted however by the privileges of the regime, he covers up errors in the investigation and keeps his doubts to himself, with priority going to the party’s need for a swift conviction.
