THE CHAMELEON game review—a how-to guide on how to play this new party game from Big Potato Games and what makes the game fun to play. Ages 14+ For full review and shopping info► ttpm.com/p/23413/big-potato-games/the-chameleon/?ref=yt

Product Info: The Chameleon is a new party game from Big Potato Games (created by Rikka Tahta). The game comes packaged in a really sturdy box that features a unique optical illusion in the package design so that, like a chameleon, the game's name blends into the background.

This is a 3-to-8-player game that’s all about blending in and not standing out—so forget everything your parents told you about being unique. There are two sets of cards, code cards and topic cards. The code cards are what will help reveal what the code word is for the round. The topic card gives all players the topic for the round as well as the code words. The first round starts with the blue stack of code cards. Take as many cards as there are players, including the chameleon card. Shuffle them up, and pass one to each player. Someone is now the Chameleon for the round. The dealer then turns over a topic card and rolls the yellow and blue dice to reveal the coordinates to locate the secret code word. The Chameleon, however, doesn’t have an actual code card so they have to pretend to play along, and blend in.

Next, players take turns saying one word related to the secret word. Now this is where things get tricky. As a player you don’t want to say anything too obvious or the Chameleon will figure out the code word. As the Chameleon, your goal is to keep blending in, try to figure out the code word, and say something related. Once all players have stated a word, play moves on to unmasking the chameleon. Players debate and then vote on who they think is the Chameleon.

Whoever gets the most votes must reveal his/her true identity. If the Chameleon escapes, he/she wins the round. If the Chameleon gets caught, then he/she must try to guess the secret word. Guess correctly, and the Chameleon still escapes.

A new round begins, which will be played with the green code cards.

Scoring for the game is optional but if you are feeling competitive, here’s how to score. If the Chameleon escapes completely undetected, the Chameleon earns two points for the round. The Chameleon earns one point if caught but correctly guesses the secret word. Two points go to everyone else if the chameleon is caught but doesn’t guess the word.
