What represents the origins of perhaps A Song of Ice and Fire's most prophesied, central and prominent character; also marked the truly heartbreaking ending of the monumental struggle that was the time of Robert's Rebellion. The story of "Jon Snow" runs deep into the annals of the lore of George R.R Martin's fantasy epic.

Lyanna Stark, the angel of war. Her love story with the truly extraordinary Rhaegar Targaryan so profoundly epic, so startlingly daring, that words do not do their story, their time and their aftermath justice. They are a love legend. The world in which they lived, was shaped around them. Yet the legacy of their tale remains a matter of mystery and myth around the realm. The truth buried under history told by an unstoppable, victor. A victor forever ignorant in what was also his own tragic undying love that would haunt him for the rest of his days.

Eddard Stark, the honourable Ned Stark. His honour, his pride, his love, his commitment, his duty to his family, the realm and the awe of his legacy. A man who would sacrifice the honour that defines him in life and in death. A man who would sacrifice his own reputation, who would endure a gut-wrenching fallacy of his infidelity. A fallacy that would haunt his marriage forever. A secret he would take to his grave. All in the name of protecting, carrying and fulfilling a sacred promise to his dying sister. He made this selfless sacrifice and honoured his sister until his final breath.

These are the legends that forged the prophetic origins of the prince that was promised. His destiny shall decide the dawn. For his is the song of ice and fire.

I believe this scene is perhaps the most emotionally significant reveal and moment since 'A Game of Thrones' was published in 1996. Beautifully crafted and a scene worthy of this grand moment.
