The Fairmont Banff Springs has been inspiring moments for over 125 years. Opened in 1888, the landmark hotel was the inspiration of Sir William Cornelius Van Horne, 19th century railway pioneer and hotel visionary, who famously quipped, "If we can't export the scenery, we'll import the tourists." It was here, 125 years ago that a railway unified a nation, a national parks system was born, and the foundations of a Scottish Baronial style castle rose beneath the majestic peaks of the Canadian Rockies.
