Disney is ready to once again wreck-it and we’ve got all the details. A new Wreck-It Ralph movie is finally coming and this time he’s heading out of the arcade. Walt Disney Animation took to Facebook Live this morning to officially announce the release date for Wreck-It Ralph 2. Original director Rich Moore along with writer Phil Johnston and star John C. Reilly made the announcement revealing that the sequel is set to arrive in theaters on March 9th, 2018. The plot of the new film will see Ralph and “Vanellope von Schweetz”, once again voiced by Sarah Silverman, leaving the confines of the arcade and setting out into the internet. The first concept art released shows the pair towering over a literal world wide web that includes parodies of Google, Amazon and Wikipedia, among others. Moore will once again direct the film, but this time he will be joined by Johnston as co-director. The pair are also responsible for the new script, which they began developing shortly after the first film was released. Regarding the new film, Johnston said that taking these characters into the world of the internet opens up huge possibilities for endless comedy. On returning to the character of “Ralph” John C. Reilly said quote, “Ralph is a character very near and dear to my heart. I'm really looking forward to playing the big lug again. Making the first Wreck-It Ralph was one of the most special experiences I've ever had and I'm really looking forward to bringing him back to life. So many kids I've met all over the world are excited to see him again, too. They tell me all the time!” While the announcement is good news for Wreck-It Ralph fans, it’s bad news for those looking forward to Disney’s Gigantic, based on the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. That film was set to arrive in theaters on March 9th, 2018, but has now been pushed to November 21st, 2018.
