GIMME A BREAK! - Season 5 (1985-86) Clip (The Family Remembers The Chief)

These are the final moments from "Joey's Train", the 89th episode (and the fifth season premiere) of the 1981-87 NBC sitcom "Gimme A Break!" This episode originally aired on September 14, 1985.

Nell (Nell Carter) and the rest of the Kanisky clan have trouble accepting the fact that the family patriarch, Chief Carl Kanisky has died. (Dolph Sweet passed away after Season 4 wrapped production in May 1985). As Nell begins the grieving process, Joey calls for her to come upstairs, which she does. She is quite angered to discover that Joey (Joey Lawrence) has set up his toy trains in the Chief's room. Nell, Katie (Kari Michaelsen), Samantha (Lara Jill Miller) and Julie (Lauri Hendler) all proceed to jump on Joey's case, while Joey insists that he wasn't disrespecting the Chief's room, as he and Joey played with his trains in the room all of the time. It is Grandpa (John Hoyt) and Jonathan (Jonathan Silverman) who defends Joey and states that they are hurting themselves by not speaking or thinking about the Chief. Nell and the girls sees where they are coming from and allow Joey to play with his trains in the Chief's room. She also allows Julie and Jonathan to move into the room as well. They all hug as they share stories about the Chief
