Crash Bandicoot served as PlayStation's mascot and the system's answer to Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog and Nintendo's Mario. Crash Bandicoot: Warped from 1998 was the third game in the series and arguably the best of the bunch. It was without a doubt one of the most polished platforming experiences on Sony's little gray wonder.

In Warped you again take on the role of Crash and its your job to collect all the crystals littered around the various levels to defeat your longtime enemy Dr. Neo Cortex . The colorful, vibrant worlds spanned across a multitude of time periods. Everything from the prehistoric tar-pits, to ancient China, to a fantasy-esque medieval period. Crash even took part in 50's style drag races with hot-rods. And there were some interesting water levels in which you played as the cute Coco.

Warped holds up today cause its just so damn nice to look at. The graphics may have aged but the vibrant worlds, crazy sounds and playfully happy score really have a timeless quality to them. And who can forget the sound that played when you picked up an Aku Aku.

But Warped didn't just have top notch graphics, it also boasted amazing animations and tight character control. Add this to some truly excellent level design and you know why our hands were glued to the controller at the time.

Like the other games in the series, Warped offered a great platforming experience that ran well and even had a good sense of humor. And while Crash obviously looks like a PSone game, the graphics still demonstrate the title's visual strength it once boasted. With a ton of items to collect and time trials to participate in, you'll surely enjoy your time with this one.
