hind every great man is a great woman. Marissa Webb is the master of structured, masculine silhouettes and whimsical, feminine details rolled up into the quintessential modern woman. With origins in J. Crew, Webb created pieces that were extremely refined and powerful, yet still remained soft and elegant. Webb, who grew up as a tomboy, showed us exactly how we can be one of the boys, but still maintain our feminine mystique. Held at the Salon at the Tents in Lincoln Center, Webb sent her gorgeous pieces down the runway to Lorde, Phantogram, and Au Revoir Simone.

Lead makeup artist Alice Lane of Maybelline was inspired by Marissa Webb herself. "She's very approachable, but has an edge. Very chic, very put together, she's healthy and flawless," said Lane. To start, her team used Fit Me Foundation to add a fresh base. On the forehead and cheeks, Alice and her team applied the Face Studio Master Glaze to warm up the complexion and brushed up the models' brows, using the Define-A-Brow and Great Lash Mascara in Clear to set the brows. Then, they put on the Fit Me Blush in Medium Nude as an eyeshadow and used the darkest shade from the Expert Wear Natural Smokes Palette on the outer crease. In the middle of the lid and brow bone, Alice put on the lightest shade from the same palette. In the inner corners of the eye, the team used the Color Tattoo Metal to add a highlight, also adding a bit on the upper cheekbone.
To finish off with a smooth, matte feel, the team used the Dream Wonder Powder throughout the face. Next, Alice created a "pillowy" lip using two different lipsticks, Blushing Beige from the Color Sensational Buffs collection and Color Sensational in Pink Pop from the Vivids collection, and a blush for a matte texture. To create some texture, Alice added a layer of Blushing Beige and topped it off with the Fit Me Foundation in Medium Mauve. Finally, to get the sexy eye, the team used five coats of Pumped Up Mascara (new) in Very Black, with an emphasis on the outer corners of the lashes.

Maybelline also took care of the manicures, using two different styles. The first used the Color Show Lacquer in Home Sweet Chrome as a base, and applying a diagonal line in Dressed to Kill. For the second look, one coat of Pink Embrace was applied, then topped off with a coat of Born With It. Dressed to Kill was used again for the diagonal line.
To match the gorgeous, glowing look, Head Stylist Jeanie Syfu of TRESemmé created two different looks, playing on a dual texture. To start, Syfu matified the hair and created soft waves throughout the lengths of the hair. She added a messy side part and blew dry the top part of the head, finishing it off with the Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray. Two types of texture were created—a shine at the top of the head, and a matte feel at the end. Finally, Syfu roughed up sections of the hair using the Fresh Start Renewal Dry Shampoo.

Armed with a glamorous cat eye and an effortlessly cool 'do, the models rocking Webb's pieces looked urban ready in black leather trousers, fitted tweed jackets, sheer tops, and classic button ups (with a sexy twist—buttoned only at the top). This season, Webb created her custom look: a black stripe running down the back of select blouses and shoes. She also played with florals in deep browns and reds, reminiscent of the Fall foliage. Webb was not afraid of using color in her collection, with several pieces in a pink blush and electric red. True to Webb Woman Style, there were fitted jackets, knee-length skirts, oversized sweaters, and chunky scarves. No doubt, her pieces combined together created a comfortable, relaxed, yet chic and put together nine-to-five look.
Our favorite part of the show? The kick-ass footwear. With pointed toes, her sophisticated shoes in black and white leather and tweed were cool, classic, and paired effortlessly with everything, from an office appropriate outfit to a casual pair of jeans. Webb's collection proved that we can hang with the boys. The real question is, can they hang with us?
