This is the Italian trailer for the 1971 film BUBU', aka "Bubu de Montparnasse", directed by Mauro Bolognini, and starring Massimo Ranieri, Ottavia Piccolo and Antonio Falsi. Manolo Bolognini was the film's producer.
BUBU' depicts the tragic fate of a young woman who turns to prostitution to hold the man she loves, and the hapless young student that tries to help her. Although the 1901 novel by Charles L. Philippe is set in Paris at the turn of the 20th century, the filmmakers transposed the story to Turin, Italy.
As usual with Bolognini, the visuals are outstanding, with lush cinematography by Ennio Guarnieri and exquisite costumes from Piero Tosi. The music is by Carlo Rustichelli, and the evocative theme song is sung by Giorgio Gaber.
