This is actually one of an assortment of similar openings from "A Nero Wolfe Mystery," the 2001-2002 A&E-TV series based on Rex Stout's famous detective character. Maury Chaykin played the brilliant but mostly house-bound Wolfe, while Timothy Hutton portrayed his legman, Archie Goodwin.
