The Alexander McQueen Spring SUmmer 2014 collection, designed by Sarah Burton, is a literal idea of a tribal warrior woman.where every model wears dramatic and graphic black, white and red outfits, from perforated pleated skirts with harness bra tops to gowns crafted from feathers and beaded breastplates.
Burton used a number of impressive design techniques to create her modern yet primitive mélange. Besides those knock out perforated pleated skirts, she crafted a triptych of leather tops that used a layering of gold zippers to give them structured and sculptural shape that hinted at neck rings. Other looks to place into the astonishing category were a group of white leather trapeze shaped dresses with a lacey motif laser cut into the material. And the final two looks that seemed as if were entirely woven out of feather and beads should go right from the catwalk into a design museum. Or even better go on tour to fashion schools around the world to show the next generation of designers the level of skill you really have to have to make it in this business.
