Beijing -- o' would but that the major news outlets and foreign correspondents spent less time in Beijing and more time in China's other cities. (Sue Williams? Evan Osnos? NPR? NYT? Are you paying attention?) Beijing is China's capital, but it isn't the entirety of - nor is it representative of - "China". Thank Zeus.
These short videos about Beijing were originally based on footage shot for a travel show, developed with the tourist specifically in mind. The problem is, I hate tourists and tourism -- a fact that shows rather more than the producers were comfortable with. The Lonely Guide/Rough Planet (c) project is now heading in a different direction, but we didn't want to waste the work the team put into "Inside Beijing". This is the introduction to the series -- if "series" is the right word.
Enjoy, if possible -- and thanks for watching!
