This film is from Harry Langdon's first batch of 2-reel comedies for Columbia in the mid-1930s. Harry plays a sad-sack type Marine who gets on his hard-nosed sargeant's bad side by stealing his girl (innocently, of course). Written and directed by Arthur Ripley, one of Langdon's key collaborators during the comedian's glory years in silent films. "The Leather Necker" is a reworking of an earlier Langdon comedy, "All Night Long." Bud Jamison has a minor but important supporting role. Enjoy!
