Nintendo has finished up their first direct stream for the year, bringing a handful of new information for both the 3DS and Wii U that includes a number of titles across both platforms.
CEO Satoru Iwata teased the trailer for Mario Kart 8 by saying we wouldn't expect who was stepping behind the wheel now and then All 7 Koopa Kids were revealed, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 8 will be making its way to player hands come May 31st, which you can read more about here. Bayonetta 2 also got some air time, with a brand new gameplay trailer showing off the witch's new powers and combat styles alongside some story snippets. Monolith Soft's 'X' title was also given a brief amount of gameplay, revealing the new combat system heavily borrowed from their previous Xenoblade Chronicles, though with "more polish" said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
Super Smash Bros. for both Wii U and 3DS got some air time as well, introducing the newest character to the roster, Punch-Out's Little Mac, who proceeded to punch Metroid's Samus Aran into outer space. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was also given a launch trailer for the Wii U, which you can check out below. Ubisoft's Child of Light will also be hitting the eShop come April 30th.
The direct also featured a number of 3DS titles, including two new announcements Pokemon Battle Trozei and Mario Golf World Tour. Pokémon Battle Trozei is a match-three puzzle game, coming to the 3DS eShop March 20th. It will include all known Pokémon to date and four-player co-op. Mario Golf World Tour was given a teaser trailer showing off the RPG-like Castle Club mode, and marked down for May 16th.
Other 3DS news included Monster Hunter 4 being confirmed for launch in the west come 2015, new trailers for Kirby Tripple Deluxe, Yoshi's New Island, Sub Wars and a number of release date confirmations which you can find below.
