Jessi Colter and I had known each other for a few years before she sat down with me in the historic RCA studio. That place brought back memories for her, being that Chet Atkins played a huge role in her and her husband's career. Her husband, Waylon Jennings , was one of the original outlaws who impacted not only country music but many people lives. He called Jessi, his leaning post, as she says in our interview, and she was with him every step of the way.

She has been one of my leaning posts, through out my music career journey as well. She is wise, spiritual, classy, smart, and could give any girl lessons on how to be a woman every man wants. Jessi was the one woman who hung in there with the men during the outlaw movement, and was able to stay a lady. When I came to Nashville, I surrounded myself with the same type of musicians and have always looked to her for inspiration.

Jessi has lived a life worth writing about. Before meeting Waylon, she was a successful singer/songwriter with a budding career. She actually first met Waylon at a writing session, and the rest of it unfolds like a story that was meant to be. She shares wisdom about what the music industry was like in those days compared to now. She also gives insight into marriage, career, and being a spiritual woman. In our interview she says "Just be sweet, and live it" and that is what she has done.

Her smile lights up every room, and her angelically startling voice is a cornerstone in country music history. Songs like "Im Not Lisa" and "Storms Never Last" could only be written by a woman, and have the depth and emotion to stop you in your tracks. This is an interview with advice that could change your life and make you change the way you look at things. I know it has mine.
