"The Wedding" Director Ezra Stone. Writers Jesse Goldstein, Phil Sharp, Hugh Wedlock, Howard Snyder. A very funny follow-up to episode 14, "Joan Plays Cupid," which aired the week before. This one, too has some wonderful word play. Wally (Wally Brown) wants very much to propose to Sally (Sally Kelly), but can't muster the courage, so Joan relays messages to Sally "'Joan' Alden" style. Sally accepts, and Joan offers to host the wedding at the Stevens' home. She meets an officiously effete wedding planner wonderfully underplayed by Joseph Kearns (Mr. Wilson on TV's "Dennis the Menace.") We discovered in the previous episode that Sally is an heiress, and informed by this information, Joan plans the wedding with no expenses spared. When Sally tells Joan that she actually just gets $100 a month and that the money's tied up in a trust fund, Joan and Brad panic and try to cut way back on expenses, including substituting Brad whistling a funny version of "Here Comes the Bride" in lieu of the planned string quartet. Sally and Wally are offended and want to cancel the wedding. Tune in. See what happens. Also features familiar character actress Maxine Semon as Frieda and veteran silent film star Billy Bletcher as Mr. Lewis, the officient of the ceremony.
