I Married Joan S2-11 "Musical" 12/23/1953

"Musical" Director John Rich, written by Sherwood Schwartz, Phil Sharp, Jesse Goldstein. Jim Backus rocks this episode. Joan's ladies' club is again putting on a theatrical, this time an old-fashioned vaudeville-type variety show. She begs Brad to do it, telling him it's just a "husband and wife sketch." He later finds out that HE is the wife! Joan does a fun Groucho Marx impression while Brad totally hams it up in the dress. During the rehearsal we see Tom Peters and Beverly Wills sing and dance "Row Row Row." Cute, but just a set-up for what comes later It's showtime. Brad and Joan do their cross-dressed vaudeville sketch terrifically. Comes time for the Row Row Row number, Tom and Bev are a no-show. Brad and Joan do the number, and the simplicity with which they do it is a joy to watch. Again Jim Backus steals the show here, which is no mean feat when sharing the stage with JD!
