"Threat" Director Marc Daniels. Writers Arthur Stander, Sherwood Schwartz. A fun episode, it opens with Joan and Brad discussing their evening at the movies. Brad points out the cartoon on the program and launches into a full-out recreation of Mr. Magoo's encounter with a goldfish bowl. For those of you who wanted to see the person behind the character actually doing the voice, here he is Jim Backus in a rarely seen event! Joan is worried because the movie's storyline was of a judge who was murdered by a felon he convicted who swore vengeance. She finds out that Rocky Collins, a felon who swore vengeance against Brad for "sending him up," was recently released from prison. Her mission to protect Brad takes on vigilante proportions, Joan going as far as posing as a Swedish cleaning woman to watch over Brad working late one night at the office. The "Swedish Comic" bit was a staple in the old Vaudeville/Burlesque houses, and here Joan plays it to the hilt! Her paranoia gets her in all kinds of trouble, especially when Rocky Collins actually shows up at the Stevens' residence. Joan jumps into Brad's arms multiple times during this episode. It features Joan's favorite "straight woman," Geraldine Carr, as her neighbor, Mabel, and Bob Sweeney, a frequent IMJ guest (most notably in the "Uncle Edgar" episode), as a shrink brought in to calm Joan down.
