This one has always been one of Ciro's favorites. Brad is being considered for a Federal Judgeship. He shares this with Joan, but tells her not to say anything to anyone because it might affect the outcome. The next day EVERYONE knows, even Brad's mother in Pawtucket, Rhode Island! Later on that day, Joan tries to warm up to Brad. If one is studying comedy, this scene is an example of the comic "threes," a technique of which Joan was a master. She tries three different ways to cozy up to him, and the third one is the payoff. Look, learn, and laugh. The second half has Brad realizing $1500 from a forgotten investment. He decides to buy Joan "that fur coat she's been wanting." She overhears the tail end of his conversation and he agrees to tell her half the secret "the husband of a girl you know" came into $1500, but doesn't want to tell his wife because he's afraid she'll want a new fur coat. He agrees to tell her the second half of the secret if she keeps the first half for 24 hours. The rest of the episode has Joan acting out the secret for her girlfriends, and also staging a bogus women's club "caucus" all by herself, with the help of an audio technician.
