"Memory" Director Marc Daniels. Writers Arthur Stander, Ben Starr. This is a fondly remembered episode with lots of shtick and comic content. Joan's faulty memory wreaks gastric disaster when she forgets a dinner invitation, resulting in not one, not two, but three spaghetti dinners in the same evening. Jim Backus is great here. There are some fun character performances by Don Brody (featured as the pharmacist in "Diet") and Gail Bonney as "the Saddlers", Edward Earl and Kay Wiley (saleslady in "Birthday" and various characters in many other IMJ episodes) as "the Trotters." In the second part, Joan decides to write everything down to avoid a repeat disaster. She puts a written message in the pocket of an old gardening jacket which she sells to the local rag man. Comedy ensues as she tries to retrieve it from his thrift shop. Acerbic veteran character actor Frank Jacquett, who can also be seen in "Bad Boy" and "Stamp", plays the owner.
