"Acrobats" Director Marc Daniels. Writers Arthur Stander, Sol Saks, Richard Powell. Arguably the best IMJ episode. Ever! Longest Version Available to date. Restored Footage. We here at the JDC have acquired some new source material containing missing scenes from "I Married Joan's" 12/31/1952 offering "Acrobats." If you've already seen the previously available version of this seminal episode, tailor-made for Joan's special skills, and no one else's, you have seen Joan Davis at her very best. The JDC's extra footage included here adds some clarity to the opening scene, more singular hat-shtick in the hat shop, and a slightly longer cabaret scene with more acrobatics. More to enjoy! The PLOT In a career move, Brad sets up a dinner date with the Dean of Law and his wife. Joan unwittingly gets into a hat shop fracas with the woman, played by Geraldine Carr, in a formidable IMJ appearance. Joan goes to dinner in disguise, but inadvertently gets dragged into the cabaret's acrobatic floorshow. No stunt doubles here Just Joan! As producer of IMJ, Joan Davis paid herself $7,500 a week. She earned every penny of it! Miss Carr went toe-to-toe with Joan every step of the way, playing it for real with a vengeance. She later had a recurring role as Joan's girlfriend, Mabel. Joan had said that Miss Carr was her favorite "straight woman." Features Elvia Allman as Joan's Aunt Vera.
