"Hunting" Director Marc Daniels. Writers Arthur Stander, Philip Sharp. The episode opens in the Judge's chambers with Brad and two friends (played by Alan Ray and Tom Daly) planning a hunting trip. This involves some fun business with huge maps laid out on the floor. Margie Liszt plays Brad's secretary (in a recurring role). Brad tells the boys that Joan wouldn't interfere with the all-male camping trip because "She's a good girl." "She knows that a camping trip is no place for a woman." (It's 1952, after all.) Joan, in the meantime, is practicing fly-fishing in the living room with an assist from her Aunt Vera (played by Elvia Allman, in her second appearance of the series in that recurring role. Miss Allman is best known as the foreperson in the "I Love Lucy" candy factory episode.) Joan tries to prove to Brad that she is an experienced camper and so she takes horseback riding lessons (from Wayne Taylor and Mark Smith.) This sequence is quite daring. Joan's in a harness suspended above the horse without a stunt double. Later, as a trial run, Joan simulates the "elements" in a makeshift campsite in the living room. Of course it backfires. This episode is another example of how hard Joan worked for the money!
