Here is a album that is the true definition of it's name, Jeff Beck's, "Wired." Yes, the electricity runs at 220v here! You need to unplug your washer's 220v, & plug in your stereo just to listen to the crackling funky fusion that surges through this album, like a funky blazing current through an electric chair! Just killer!
Yet there is quiet moments of ethereal beauty here, that transform into an all out grand master chops fest, but these chops go somewhere! Through your ears into your brain, visiting you butt, making it wiggle, & out your thumping feet! These guys can not only play, but they know how to make a killer song structure, that is at once complicated, but warm & embrassing.
Of all the great music that is on "Wired," my favorite cut is "Sophie," just a beautiful monument to melody. A very somber, but delicious start, that turns into a brilliant crescendo of happiness, then to return to it's beautiful somber end! It is really one of the most gorgeous songs of all time in my opinion. I could listen to it a million times, & never grow tired. Pure perfection!
Many claim "Blow By Blow" is Jeff's greatest album, but I have to beg to differ. "Wired" is what I reach for first, but "Blow By Blow," I'll never turn down, that is, after "Wired!"
