Nato e cresciuto a Havering, un borough dell'East End londinese, proveniente da una famiglia di calciatori di successo (è figlio di Frank Lampard Sr. e nipote di Harry Redknapp, che giocarono entrambi nel West Ham negli anni settanta, nonché cugino di Jamie Redknapp, che vinse la Coppa UEFA nel 2001 con il Liverpool), anche Frank Lampard jr. si è formato nelle giovanili del West Ham, squadra con la quale esordì nel calcio professionistico e nella quale rimase fino al 2001 (a parte un brevissimo prestito semestrale ai gallesi dello Swansea), riuscendo anche a vincere la Coppa Intertoto del 1999.

Plusieurs membre de sa famille sont connus dans le milieu du football son père Frank Lampard a remporté deux fois la Coupe d'Angleterre avec West Ham en 1975 et en 1980 et a été sélectionné deux fois en équipe d'Angleterre, son cousin Jamie Redknapp vient de terminer une carrière de joueur professionnel, son oncle Harry Redknapp est le manager de Portsmouth FC.
Côté vie privée, il est fiancé à l' espagnole Elen Rives. Ils ont une fille, Luna.

Lampard is a central midfielder known for his powerful long-range shots and prolific goalscoring abilities from midfield.
Lampard was born in Romford, Havering, England. He is the son of Frank Lampard Sr., the former England full back and two-time FA Cup winner with West Ham United. His family is related to another famous footballing family, the Redknapps.
