Description: Veronica Maya, a pseudonym for Veronica Maya Russo , is an Italian television host and showgirl. At the age of 20 she graduated from high school and later won a scholarship to Renato Greco's school in Rome, where she made her debut as a theater actress playing in various musicals. In 2002 she made her theater debut in the comedy signed by Mario Monicelli inspired by the film Amici miei, along with Jerry Calà, Franco Oppini and Nini Salerno. Her debut on television dates back to the early 2000s when she hosted alongside Guido De Angelis the program dedicated to Lazio (of which Maya is a fan) Lazialità in TV, broadcast by Veronica Maya, a pseudonym for Veronica Maya Russo , is an Italian television host and showgirl.

At the age of 20 she graduated from high school and later won a scholarship to Renato Greco's school in Rome, where she made her debut as a theater actress playing in various musicals.

In 2002 she made her theater debut in the comedy signed by Mario Monicelli inspired by the film Amici miei, along with Jerry Calà, Franco Oppini and Nini Salerno.
Her debut on television dates back to the early 2000s when she hosted alongside Guido De Angelis the program dedicated to Lazio (of which Maya is a fan) Lazialità in TV, broadcast by the Roman broadcaster Teleroma 56.

She made his debut on national screens in 2004 on Rai 2's sports programs Sabato Sprint and Dribbling. In the 2005-2006 television season she began working on Rai 1, conducting the program Stella del Sud every Saturday afternoon. In the summer of 2007 she is once again entrusted with the Saturday afternoon of the first RAI network, for which she leads the program Italia che vai.
In the fall of 2006 she is chosen as the host of the well-known Zecchino d'Oro (which reached edition number 49 that year) and in that same season she leads a special of Linea verde on Sanremo; her hosting of the Zecchino is confirmed in the following years as well, often flanked by other presenters such as, for example, Paolo Conticini (in 2008 and 2009, in the first and last episode in 2014) and Pino Insegno (in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013).

In the summer of 2007, she was called to host the summer version of Unomattina together with Duilio Giammaria, while in the following season (i.e., 2007-2008) she hosted Linea verde every Sunday morning on Rai 1 with Massimiliano Ossini. In the summer of 2008 he also leads the zero number of the prime-time variety show Incredible! and she again hosts Unomattina Estate (with Massimo Mignanelli, Bruno Mobrici and Nicoletta Manzione), also on Rai 1.
Beginning September 15, 2008, she was given the task of hosting a new program for Rai 1, airing Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 11:00: 00 and titled Verdetto finale, where she talks about real court cases that have already been submitted to the judiciary, but are reviewed (through the creation of a mock trial, i.e., an act) for the Rai audience; supported also by the good success of the tribunal (which in the summer of 2009 aired in the afternoon time slot and then resumed its usual morning schedule in the 2009-2010 season) in March 2009 she leads the first actual episode of Incredible! which, however, was cancelled from the Rai schedule due to low results in the Auditel; shortly thereafter, on April 24 and 25, 2009, the Sorrentine showgirl hosted the final evenings of the Reggio Calabria Film Festival.

In June 2010, she became the host and testimonial of the eleventh edition of the Festival Show, a show of Radio Birikina and Radio Bella & Monella that, starting from Padua, touched a dozen locations in the Northeast until arriving in Verona. From September 12, 2011, the court of Verdetto finale returns again on the air in the afternoon slot from Monday to Friday from 2:10 to 3:15 p.m. on Rai 1. As already mentioned, from 2010 to 2013, Maya leads Zecchino d'Oro together with Pino Insegno. From January 2, 2012 to February 17, 2012 she was replaced, due to maternity leave, at Verdetto finale by Tiberio Timperi, to whom Maya ceded the leadership of the court as of April 30, 2014 because she was relocated in the preparation of a new summer talk: in fact, from June 2 to September 5, she returned to the morning of Rai 1 to lead again Unomattina Estate in the time slot from 09:30 to 10:30 in the new Dolce Casa section. In the fall of 2014 she is one of the contestants of the fourth edition of the Rai 1 talent show Tale e quale show hosted by Carlo Conti; always in this period Maya is also entrusted with the conduction (which before the summer of 2014 was taken away from her along with the already mentioned replacement in the court) of the new edition of Zecchino d'Oro, this time, however, in single conduction (i.e. without her former partner, the actor Pino Insegno,because he is busy in other programs).

After conducting Vigilia in Famiglia (a spin-off of Zecchino d'Oro aired on December 24, 2014 in Rai 1's afternoon slot), Maya leads the 20th edition of the Epiphany Concert, an event held on January 4, 2015 at the Teatro Mediterraneo in Naples (this event aired on Rai 1 in the morning slot on January 6, 2015). Later, due to some controversies, Maya left the Rai networks and landed at Agon Channel, where she led, starting January 17, 2015, the selections of the talent show Chance, together with Marco Senise, a program that from February 20 onwards she led for 15 Fridays in prime time and on the same channel. On the occasion of the 2015 Sanremo Festival, during the week of February 9 to 15, 2015, Maya hosts Sanremo in Festival, a program dedicated to the analysis of the events related to the Italian song festival live from the Palafiori in Sanremo, in the afternoon and late-night slots, with pundits and guests in the studio.

After leaving permanently during the summer of 2015 the Agon Channel, Veronica Maya returned to Rai on December 25 of the same year, joining Cristèl Carrisi in the conduction of Lo Zecchino di Natale, a spin-off of the Zecchino d'Oro.Since February 2016, she has moved to the thematic channel Alice,for which she has conducted two live programs from the Palafiori in Sanremo to comment on events related to the 2016 Sanremo Festival. In addition, for the same network, she has been hosting the program Casa Alice - Cucina in famiglia since February 15, 2016. She takes part as a juror of the technical committee in the selections of Miss Italia 2016, a role she will also hold on the final night of the event live on September 10 on LA7.

From June 1, 2020, she returns to Rai, specifically on Rai 2, and throughout the summer she leads the L'Italia che fa column in the early afternoon. In the 2020/2021 season, again for Rai2, she is the hostess of the evenings dedicated to the world of cinema Marateale - La notte del cinema and Stelle d'argento al Cinema Italiano. During the week of the Italian Song Festival, she curates as correspondent the connections from Sanremo for the program Ore 14, while on the evening of June 2, 2021, she is one of the dispatchers of La Partita, a soccer competition organized for charitable purposes aired in prime time on Rai 2. In the summer of the same year, again for Rai's second channel, she is the hostess of the evenings Musicultura, Festival del Cinema Italiano and Nervi Music Ballet Festival. On January 6, 2023, on Rai 1 she hosts from Trentino-Alto Adige the special Uno Zecchino nella Calza.
