Brunette German stage and screen comedienne, trained as a ballet dancer. Popular on screen in the 30's as dynamic, wisecracking or tomboyish second leads, noted for her trademark bobbed hairstyle. Her film career stalled during the war years after a private altercation with Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.
